Today is the day when the world’s cheapest car – the Tata Nano will meet its first customer.

The Nano was introduced on the market back in 2008 and since then it has been the subject of numerous controversies. According to Tata Motors the buyer is anonymous for the time being and apparently he / her paid only 100,000 rupees ($2,053 U.S.) for this delicate beast.

This is money well spent because the level of CO₂ emissions doesn’t exceed 101 grams while the Automotive Research Association of India rated the Tata Nano at 56 mpg US.

Even if the Nano is available only on the Indian market right now we can gladly announce you that a Euro-spec unit just passed European crash tests while an arrival on US soil will be scheduled in the nearest future.
