10k Pontiac Vibes is recalled to the GM mother ship due to cold weather-related brake problems.

All these units are hiding under the hood a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and apparently their brake will hardly work in low ambient conditions. It will still be functional but we’re talking about a considerable increase of the stopping distances.

The dealers have been instructed to solve this problem by modifying the brake vacuum line free of charge. Even if the recall names vehicles sold / registered only in certain states, this campaign will also include vehicles sold in the rest of the country.

If you’re a Vibe owner and you’re having problem with the brakes then you can call Pontiac at 1-800-620-7668 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at 1-888-327-4236.

We all know about Pontiac’s Solstice previous models that walked the car-catwalk at SEMA: the Solstice Weekend Club Racer in 2005, the Solstice GXP-R in 2006, and Solstice SD-290 Concept that was paraded last year. This year the Solstice will take the shape of a coupe and will feature under the hood GM’s Performance Parts Stage 2 performance kit , intake kit, and cat-back exhaust system, all of which will raise the number of horsies from 260 to 290.

But that is not all. The new Solstice will also receive a new and sportier suspension system, custom seats, race-style pedals and a whole lot of stuff I don’t care for when buying a car like and iPod interface and exterior graphics kit.

Let’s wait and see what impression this baby will make when it will be unveiled in bolts and screws.
